Heading out...

This weekend Manolo and I are heading south to the Keys to hopefully enjoy some time off, but we will both be working on our school stuff. It is an ongoing thing in our life and we know that it’s worth it, but that doesn’t make it any easier. We are taking steps to make a new life in Seattle but that is slow going.

Angela’s wedding is coming up quick and we are just about to hit the cram time. This should be fun! I get to take a few days off work and see my family. This is my favorite part. I love them so much and can’t wait to settle down in a few years where we can all be closer. You know those summer picnics and the holidays together as our kids all run around like in Lord of The Flies. Maybe that will happen maybe not but it is a great thought for me.

Last night I received an email from a loge lost friend. Wow I have never been looked up, how cool is that. I never thought anyone would want to find out about me. It really made me think about how many people I have thought about looking up or looked up but has been unsuccessful in finding and this guy finds me. How cool!

I will be posting all the great pictures from our trip on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Keep coming back.

Passing of time

On June 9th my friend will be taking those steps down a path to a new life with her future in toe. She has given me the chance to be a part of that with her and I feel blessed for that.
Since last year we have been busying ourselves with the coordination’s for the perfect wedding. My sister Shannon, Angela, and I have been spending many hours talking on the phone and traveling back and forth between Tampa and Youngstown. This has given me a great since of what friends… wait… wait… family is about. As the time grows shorter and shorter I have realized that in a few weeks it will all be over and we will all move to the next step. Just like Angela and Doug.
But I just can’t get over the strong relationship that has been built by this wedding.

Angela,
Thank you for giving me and my sister friendship and thank you for Saidrea.

BAD DAYZ

It has taken me a whole week to be able to talk about last weeks events.
For starters Mondays always suck and I spent the day thinking about how I was late on some homework and had a test to take on Tuesday. Not to mention I started my Monday morning off with my cold tea landing in my lap with white pants on…
Tuesday- I had my class and took my test and had another run in with my teacher because, this guy doesn’t want to give me extra credit because he doesn’t want to be bothered with it. (I am paying 60,000 dollars to go to this school and he has the audacity to tell me he doesn’t want to be bothered…ok I don’t want to be bothered with paying my bill…)
Wednesday was a heavy load work day at my so called career, and when I was studding in my car, eating a little din-din my soda exploded all over my lap and I swear it looked like I had wet my pants. Great I will not be defeated by drinks!! So I hoist my legs up into the air flying eagle/porn queen style and point my vents down full blast and dry my crotch out like a pro.
But hope came to me in class when I received a few complements for my photograph…”A” to me!
Thursday I didn’t have class so it was all good.
Friday I don’t remember I think I blocked out all the bad memories.

Insert title here

I just want to take this moment and give mention to the greatest husband ever. I love u.

I have swallowed my pride and come to the realization that I need my Bachelors degree, so I put myself back in school. But I have tried this before with other universities and it didn’t work, which is why I put my self in an art school. So far so good. Love the school and the classes are very understandable for me.

This quarter in school I have a Principals of Finance class that has been unceremoniously kicking my ass. My PF class is the worst of all because it is the mechanical side of things not the art side of things. Now I realized that my PF class was going to be challenging because I know that I do not work well with calculations, so on the second day of class I asked my teacher for extra credit. He said that he didn’t want to bother with that because he didn’t know how to hand extra credit out. (Side note I pay for this guy)

OK

Now we are five classes in and I am pulling a BIG OLD “D” on all my work. HEHEH

Please don’t think that I am not pulling my weight, I have been doing the homework and participating in class. But still after I took the quiz last night I realized that I didn’t know anything about what he was asking.

After I finish my quiz I stand up look at my teacher, and because I was the only one left (as usual) I asked him again for extra credit. This guy looks me dead in the eye and says “NO I don’t want to bother with that.”

At this point I am furious and need to excuse myself from the room in a very professional manor.
Then I run to my car turn the radio up and screen until my back hurts.
HAAAAH that is better.

This is where Manny comes in.
I get home and don’t want to talk but my husband, the hero that he is, follows me around for a while then pulls it out of me. I keep my cool for the first few seconds then go into my sniveling wine mode that I can’t stand hearing my voice in so I go straight into scream mode.
My husband is waiting for my liftoff to outer space, and yet he is lending me his ear, without getting defensive or thinking that I am yelling at him. I love U.
Then came the hand jesters, which my sister and I have mastered, and my husband has learned to avoid those things, they sometimes have a mind of their own.
We continue talking for about an hour till I have used all my energy and get tired and go to sleep.

Thanks Pollito for letting me vent at a high decibel for however long I needed to, without thinking that it was you I was coming after.
Thank you…Thank you…Thank you…

High School... What?

Angela (a childhood friend of mine) and I go to our high school, 8 years after graduating, to see some old teachers. Well needless to say she and I were remembered. It was shocking that all the teachers we had, remembered us which is nice, but there was one teacher in particular that could not get over the fact that I was even alive. Mr. Wright my 8th grade science teacher could not believe that I had turned out to be such an upstanding, law biding person in society.

I was a bad kid in high school and he was sure to leave an impression on me as too how bad I really was.

For a moment there I was standing in front of his class doing a speech on “Be cool stay in school” and “Just say NO” funny how things change. He even pointed to me and said to his class “She was the worst and I didn’t think she would make it.”

Then Angela and I raided his storage to get two 1998 year books (our graduating year) and we were off, or so we thought. He said that will be 35 dollars a piece.

Thirty Five Dollars!

It took me 8 years to get to that point in my life where I accept the fact that I even went to high school and he wants to charge me 35 dollars!

It’s in the mail…

Home Sweeeeet Home

My face is sporting a smile.
Today I will be boarding a plane to head back home for the weekend.
It is a short time to be there but it is a pilgrimage that will reenergize my being.

My home town has no shortage of vacant building covered in rust, and alleys with treasures from times past around every corner. There are real coffee shops with original owners who still serve a cup of coffee as a cup of coffee (black).
I love to visit there.

Manolo I will miss you for those few days away but I will call. I promise!

P.S. Congratulations Angela!
Lots of love from my family to yours.

So you had a bad day.

When you fall on your face 10 times you get up 11.

That is great but when you fall for the 11th time, at what point do you finally just stop getting up?

I am tired of insperational conversations.
I am tired of just doing it, only to fail.
I am tired of sitting on my ass.
I am tired...

I will have to explain it all later.

Just random thoughts:

I am an unself sufficient island
My sand is be blown away little by little, by the passing storm
The wind tares through my palms like a blow dryer
Please inhabit my island and help me flourish

How important to you are your worldly positions?
Lately I have been thinking about how it would be to sell all my “stuff” and start over. Looking from a distance I can see a house, two cars, and two cats; that is just on the surface. Upon further inspection I can’t begin to count all the plates, movies, towels, etc. Plus there are always those dark and dreaded storage spots. It has taken me five years to grow this seed into a tree, and the thought of selling it is very disheartening and exciting. But all of that “stuff” does not make me or my husband any different then who we are. It is just “stuff” that could be taken away in one great blow of a hurricane.
Then where would we be?

Is it arctic in here?

Will someone please tell me why people in offices love to have the thermometer set at ice storm when it is 70 degrees out side? I mean I know it is warm out there but for Christ Sake it is like walling into a meat cooler. Do I look like a hunk of meat hanging from a hook just waiting to be cut down and chopped up for the market?

Recap

Good Friday – Day of work and night with friends.
An accidental run in with some beef jerky and a disappointment to follow.
Well kind of, ok not really, my family is not religious.
Holy Saturday - Holy is right! After a day at the beach my skin was red like a lobster.
That a side, Thanks Manolo for going to the beach with me even though you had a monster hangover!
The calamari made up for it! YUM!
Easter – Lazy days. Work around the house cleaning up and clearing stuff that had migrated to the back door headed for the shed.
Clean shed and take photos for my cousin to see my pots so she can tell me what I am doing wrong. I think that I am not letting my volcano erupt before opening the top. Ya that sounds about right.

To all 4 of my readers!
Have a great week.

Dreams...

I have been having dreams again. For a few weeks I didn’t dream about anything at all, but for the past two nights I have had some good ones. I am going to tell you about them, but just so you know, I will be modifying how they are told so they make sense. Please note that my dreams are crazy enough that I don’t need to stretch the truth to much I just want it to be understandable.

Wednesday Night:
I was back in Ohio on the lake or what resembled the lake. I was hovering over it with another person who I believe to be Michelle. We watched from above well a few other people were already ba-hawen with their 4X4’s and motor boats. The water seemed to be deep enough for boats but shallow enough for the 4X4’s to touch ground. The water was a milk chocolate brown with the consistence of a thick milks shake closest to the edge and a more watery consistence the further into the center of the lake. Looking down I could see all the trucks bobbing up and down in the water all covered in mud. The boats were zooming up and down the lake.
She and I were ready to go ba-hawen in the mud with the rest of them but we could not seem to get down from hovering.

Next Dream:
I remember my first dream and I am shopping in a dollar store with Angela. This store was a dollar store but it had a lake feeling. In other words they sold fish tackle, beach gear, camping gear, and food all for a dollar. What a great store. Ang and I were walking down the aisles looking for things we could use at the beach. I picked out a bird cage and a couple of other things small enough to fit in my hand. For some reason we were rushing through the aisles following Doug. I stopped for a moment to look at something then I woke up.

That was all.

Healthy Bee

I love you Manolo!

For almost three years of my life I would eat right, exercise religiously, and run three miles a day. This kept me tone and healthy, but for the last few years it has not been that easy. I when back to school and for the last two years I have been putting off my healthy life style. I was only making it worse by taking that time to drink heavily and smoke.

Now my body is paying for it.

A few weeks back my wonderful husband and I decided that it would be in our best interest to start to taking care of our bodies for the future of our (future) children.
We agreed that we would get up in the morning and go for a walk. After not doing anything, a walk is a great place to start. A day or two passed and we are already falling off the wagon.

But not today I tell you!

I will be good and get up and go for that walk.
So I am trying to wake my husband up but he scowled at me and I think he even tried to bite me when I woke him, something about a bad night sleep.
At any rate, I get up and dresses and put my shoes on and by then he was doing his zombie walk through the house with a disgusted sleepy look on his face, so I tell him, “I will be fine, go back to bed if it is that bad.”

Here is where it gets good.

When I leave the house Poncho came in from the porch and Easter when out, and I closed the door bidding my love 15 minutes of sleep.

I start my walk down the street passing other people walking their dogs and such, doing my “Good Morning” wave.

About half way through my walk I decide that I am going to try a little run today. My brain agrees that this is a good idea and this will give me the right to barge to my husband what a great walk he missed.

I get to the end of the park and start to run. I run to the stop sign at the church. This is about ¼ of a mile distance. Not even a 10 min run.

By the time I get there I begin to feel the mistake I have made.
My heart is pounding so hard it is knocking me off balance.
Sweat pours from my armpits like a fire hose.
My hair has fallen and as I try to fix it I almost fall down from being dizzy.
But I can still pull off a “Good Morning” to a passer by.

Upon my return to the house I tell Manolo what a great walk it was and how I ran a little.

His bark was, “That’s great but, I didn’t get to go back to sleep because after you left, Poncho meowed the hole time and danced on the bed so, I had to feed him and didn’t get any more sleep.”

Good Boy Poncho!

Ok this guy was rolling around on the floor in a local retail store.

Now I am not sure if I should be emberrased for him or envious of his ability to be himself
where ever he may be.

You be the judge.

People

I listen to a lot of people telling me about their problems. Mostly about the shallow characteristics of how their “friends” treat each other. I can’t help but think about how lucky I am to be with my husband and have such great friends. People I can really trust.
But I have been thinking lately about how I need to trust people more and make friends, and be more social.
I can’t stop thinking about how if I do that, then I will be letting people into my life who have no real concern for my well being.
Do I really want that?
Should I open that imaginary door that I slammed shut and put some extra locks on to keep out the self destroy people?
I don’t think I am ready for that.
I think I am better off being a part of a silent none evasive friendship through bloging. That way I can speak when I want and no one will be looking to take my mojo from me, or tear me from my world with great consequence.

Some sound words from Fro

People are always telling me that i know just what to say to make them feel better, then when i'm faced with a similar situation, i feel like digging a hole in the corner of my house, and crawling in. (just forward my mail to the hole in the corner)
so, here is a little technique that might work next time you're in need of some good advice...

next time you give some good advice, write it down, keep a journal ....then when its your turn, hand that journal over to a good friend and have them read it to you!! then it'll be your own advice, but it won't be coming from you---its much easier to take the advice if its coming from someone else!!!

another way this advice giving might work is if you look in the mirror and pretend you're talking to someone else! of course this is to be used as a last resort, and only if you're already in the habit of talking to your self...which i am....ironically this does not work for me.

i hope i was able to help those of you who are great at giving advice, but are unable to take your own.
unfortunately, this technique thingy that i've come up with won't work for me, cause i came up with it!!!
so, feel free to write me if you have any questions!

thank you
have a great day!

Moss

I am having a hard time concentrating today. I just keep staring out my window looking at the tree outside. I am imagining myself as a squirrel zipping around the tree. Up and down the curved branches. I am moving so fast that the moss hanging down swings as I fly by it. I then stop at the end of a branch that overlooks the opening to the Gulf of Mexico. It’s not close enough today.
Looking down the limbs of the tree, back at myself sitting in my chair starring at the computer I feel sorry for me. I am a slave to the machine.
